Bedroom Reveal
It’s been a while since I last posted interior design content around these parts! Ever since my summer job ended as a rental decorator, I haven’t had many places to exercise my interior design muscle. However, my room has been a slow work in progress for a while now.
My room is my little sanctuary, my place to unwind from the day and watch my shows or do some yoga. It really is my favorite. After COVID hit, I think that I just needed something more toned down than my usual style so I boho-ified my room. I did it on a major budget and just picked up things here and there that I found (my basket collection being my favorite thing).
I’ve become a plant mom and I’m really trying my best. I bought my Monstera for 5 bucks at an outdoor market and he is thriving!! He’s sprouted a new leaf already!! I knew I wanted my plants to have a home in my room where they could grow in size (and number). My shelf became the perfect place.
I know the backwards books can be polarizing (lol isn’t everything controversial at this point), but I like them! I was inspired off of Instagram and decided to give it a try for myself. Despite the deep regret I felt half way through turning all of the books around, the colors & texture make me so happy! It’s the perfect vibe for my space and I’m so happy I didn’t give up.
My basket wall collection is something I wear as a badge of honor. Yes, I thrifted all of those. In fact, I would guess the wall cost me no more than $30 (with some of the pieces being from Goodwill). I will say, I think this trend has caught on because I rarely find a good basket at Goodwill anymore, but maybe that is just in my area. I would recommend checking antique stores before Goodwill. It may be a bit pricier that way, but I have a feeling you will find more unique items.
Like I said, I’ll never stop collecting items for this space and continuing to freshen things up. I can’t pass up a good thrift after all. Until another room needs a makeover, I’ll be here moving things around.
This may be my favorite part of my whole room. My mom had needlepointed the Lord’s prayer when she was a little older than me and it had been sitting in our basement. I adore this piece. It is so special to me for so many reasons.
That’s the thing; I’m a firm believer that your space needs to be a mix of old and new, meaningful and useful. Some of the pieces in my room don’t have a story, they are just something I picked up on sale somewhere. But some pieces tell a story, and those are the ones that make a house a home.
I’m a big believer in taking your time and thrifting along the way. This room didn’t come together overnight and I think I will forever be moving things around. I continue to keep my eyes peeled for new fun pieces all of the time.
Quite a few pieces in my room came from a local store, Shine Home Design, from a huge sale they ran a few months back. I really love their great California-esque, organic style. The candlesticks in this shot came from them.
I also scored big at another local store, Mer Marché, when they had a yard sale a few years back. Too many good things (including some of the baskets for my wall).
